Coin Purse Wallet

A coin purse wallet is a small pouch which holds your coins so you do not have to have a pocketful of change. It can also sometimes have spaces for cards and notes, but mostly it is for coins.

Coin wallets used to be very popular, but over the years, plastic wallets and purses have become more fashionable and the coin purse is not seen as much anymore.

The coin purse is usually made of leather or cloth with a snap closure. The leather ones are quite simple, but the cloth can be anything from silk to canvas with embroidered details or decorative beads. The purses tend to have a metal framing and visible stitching to give the impression of being handmade.

Some wallets have a zippered closure and some are Velcro. Although there are some expensive designer wallets on the market, they are very easy to make and so there is no need to pay extortionate prices for one. Bottega Veneta, for example, has a zip-around coin purse in the latest collection. It is so popular that they have had to limit customers to buying no more than three purses every 30 days! It is made of woven leather and opens up to reveal three compartments in which to separate your coins, cards and notes. The inside is also lined with leather and the purse comes in black or purple. As it is made in Italy, the leather is expected to be of very high quality. However, with a price tag of around $280 (£180), it seems a high price to pay for something so simple.

These wallets come in different styles to appeal to both women and men. Women’s designs are usually made to compliment a bag in the same collection. Most women find they need a large purse to hold all of their change, cards, notes, photos, receipts and anything else they can think of. However, if they have just bought a new bag that is quite small, a coin wallet would fit in it better. If the wallet matches the bag, even better! Radley’s bags have been fashionable in the UK for a while now, and they always release a matching purse with each new bag designed. Although these can take a variety of styles, there are many coin purses in the collection which may signal the start of a comeback.

Men’s designs are usually made of leather and they tend to appeal more to the older gentleman who appreciates the old fashioned style and remembers when they were popular. They are slightly different to women’s wallets as they open upwards rather than sideward-so it important to open it the right way up or you will end up with coins everywhere!

A coin purse wallet makes a great token gift. If you do not have much money and you have to buy a present, you could instead by a small piece of fabric and some cotton and make the wallet yourself. This will give the recipient a unique present straight from the heart.
